Welcome to the Dahl Class Page.
Our Class Teacher is Mrs Maple.
Did you know we are called Dahl Class after the author Roald Dahl? We have really enjoyed reading some of his books in class including 'Fantastic Mr Fox', 'The Enormous Crocodile' and 'Esio Trot.'
During Science week we carried out lots of investigations! We used different skills such as predicting, observing and recording. Some of the investigations included making a reptile out of squared pieces of card, helping Humpty Dumpty to not break if he fell again and predicting what would happen when we put a paper flower in to some water.
This years Creative fortnight theme is 'Up Above'. We have designed and created model space rockets, listened to music by the composer Holst and created clay tiles of hot air balloons. We have also had lots of visitors in school such as a Planetarium, Poet and Theatre Company. We have had lots of fun!
We are Historians
We have been Historians and found out about the moon landing. We had different resources to look at to find out key facts about Neil Armstrong and the moon landing. We learnt lots of interesting facts! We also decided how we wanted to record and present what we learnt.
We have had a fantastic time this December at school! We have even had a special visitor from the North Pole. He is an elf and we called him Shimmer. We have also made lots of Christmas decorations and thought about our favourite part of Christmas.
Learning in Year One
We have learnt a lot in the first half term of Year One. We have learnt how to use objects in Maths to represent a number and to find number bonds. We have also learnt the story Little Red Riding Hood in English and how to use adjectives to describe a character. In Science and Geography we have been learning about seasonal changes and the weather in each season. Look at the photos to see more of what we have been learning.
Official Dahl Detectives!
Mrs Egan came to visit Year One and told us some shocking news! Someone or something had got into her office and she needed Year One's help to investigate what had happened. We took photos of the evidence and found out that it was the Wolf from the story Little Red Riding Hood.
Our 2017 Ofsted inspection commented - that we still provide good quality education & a stimulating & caring environment. Individual needs are well met & children quickly grow in confidence. There is a positive culture for safeguarding & pupils said that they feel happy & settled in school.
"I am amazing. Together we are magnificent!"
